I Didn't Think Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFG HIJIKEL I CMNEOE PMPMAEE BQBQRES

If all the troubles in the worldA
Were traced back to their startB
We'd find not one in ten begunC
From want of willing heartB
But there's a sly woe working elfD
Who lurks about youth's brinkE
And sure dismay he brings alwayF
The elf 'I didn't think 'G
-
He seems so sorry when he's caughtH
His mien is all contriteI
He so regrets the woe he wroughtJ
And wants to make things rightI
But wishes do not heal a woundK
Or weld a broken linkE
The heart aches on the link is goneL
All through 'I didn't think '-
-
I half believe that ugly spriteI
Bold wicked 'I don't care '-
In life's long run less harm has doneC
Because he is so rareM
And one can be so stern with himN
Can make the monster shrinkE
But lack a day what can we sayO
To whining 'Didn't think'E
-
This most unpleasant imp of strifeP
Pursues us everywhereM
There's scarcely one whole day of lifeP
He does not cause us careM
Small woes and great he brings the worldA
Strong ships are forced to sinkE
And trains from iron track are hurled alackE
By stupid 'Didn't think '-
-
When brain is comrade to the heartB
And heart from soul draws graceQ
'I didn't think will quick departB
For lack of resting placeQ
If from that great unselfish streamR
The Golden Rule we drinkE
We'll keep God's laws and have no causeS
To say 'I didn't think '-
