The sands upon the ocean sideA
That change about with every tideA
And never true to one abideA
A woman's love I liken toB
-
The summer zephyrs light and vainC
That sing the same alluring strainC
To every grass blade on the plainC
A woman's love is nothing moreD
-
The sunshine of an April dayE
That comes to warm you with its rayE
But while you smile has flown awayE
A woman's love is like to thisF
-
God made poor woman with no heartG
But gave her skill and tact and artG
And so she lives and plays her partG
We must not blame but pity herH
-
She leans to man but just to hearI
The praise he whispers in her earI
Herself not him she holdeth dearJ
O fool to be deceived by herH
-
To sate her selfish thirst she quaffsF
The love of strong hearts in sweet draughtsF
Then throws them lightly by and laughsF
Too weak to understand their painC
-
As changeful as the winds that blowK
From every region to and froK
Devoid of heart she cannot knowK
The suffering of a human heartG
