Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFGHG IJK ELHL MNENEOHO EPQPERMR

To J J H Of KentuckyA
-
-
Gathering brands from the burningB
Plucking them out of the fireC
Lifting the sheep that have wanderedD
Out of the dust and the mireE
Bringing home sheaves from the harvestF
To lay at the Master's feetG
Lord all thy hosts of angelsH
Must smile on a life so sweetG
-
-
Speaking with fear of no manI
Speaking with love for allJ
Warning the young and the thoughtlessK
From the wild beast 'Alcohol '-
Showing the snares that the tempterE
Weaveth on every handL
Lord all thy dear dear angelsH
Must smile on a life so grandL
-
-
Fighting the bloodless battleM
With a heart that is true and boldN
Fighting it not for gloryE
Fighting it not for goldN
But out of love for his neighborE
And out of love for his LordO
And I know that the hands of the angelsH
Will crown him with his rewardO
-
-
For whoso works for the MasterE
And whoso fights his fightP
The angels crown with a star wreathQ
And it glows with gems most brightP
They wear them for ever and everE
The saints in that land of blissR
And I know that heaven's best jewelM
Is kept for a soul like thisR
