England, Awake! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECDE

A beautiful great lady past her primeA
Behold her dreaming in her easy chairB
Gray robed and veiled in laces old and rareB
Her smiling eyes see but the vanished timeA
Of splendid prowess and of deeds sublimeA
Self satisfied she sits all unawareB
That peace has flown before encroaching careB
And through her halls stalks hunger linked with crimeA
-
England awake from dreams of what has beenC
Look on what IS and put the past awayD
Speak to your sons until they understandE
England awake for dreaming now is sinC
In all your ancient wisdom rise to dayD
And save the glory of your menaced landE
