Does It Pay? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF

If one poor burdened toiler o er life s roadA
Who meets us by the wayB
Goes on less conscious of his galling loadA
Then life indeed does payB
-
If we can show the troubled heart the gainC
That lies always in lossD
Why then we too are paid for all the painC
Of bearing life s hard crossD
-
If some despondent soul to hope is stirredE
Some sad lip made to smileF
By any act of ours or any wordE
Then life has been worth whileF
