Discontent Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJKLK MNONPCDC QRSRCEBE

Like a thorn in the flesh like a fly in the meshA
Like a boat that is chained to shoreB
The wild unrest of the heart in my breastC
Tortures me more and moreB
I wot not why it should wail and cryD
Like a child that is lost at nightE
For it knew no grief but has found reliefF
And it is not touched with blightE
-
It has had of pleasure full many a measureG
It has thrilled with love's red wineH
It has hope and health and youth's rare wealthI
Oh rich is this heart of mineH
Yet it is not glad it is wild and madJ
Like a billow before it breaksK
And its ceaseless pain is worse than vainL
Since it knows not why it achesK
-
It longs to be like the waves of the seaM
That rise in their might and beatN
And dash and lunge and hurry and plungeO
And die at the grey rocks' feetN
It wearies of life and it sickens of strifeP
And yet it tires of restC
Oh I know not why it should ache and cryD
'Tis a troublesome heart at bestC
-
Though not understood I think it a goodQ
And God like discontentR
It springs from the soul that longs for its goalS
For the source from which it was sentR
Then surge O breast with thy wild unrestC
Cry heart like a child at nightE
Till the mystic shore of the EvermoreB
Shall dawn on thy eager sightE
