Disarmament Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IAAJKLFMNOP

We have outgrown the helmet and cuirassA
The spear the arrow and the javelinB
These crude inventions of a cruder ageC
When men killed men to show their love of GodD
And he who slaughtered most was greatest kingE
We have outgrown the need of warF
Should menG
Unite in this one thought all war would endH
-
Disarm the world and let all Nations meetI
Like Men not monsters when disputes ariseA
When crossed opinions tangle into snarlsA
Let Courts untie them and not armies cutJ
When State discussions breed dissensions letK
Union and Arbitration supersedeL
The hell created implements of WarF
Disarm the world and bid destructive thoughtM
Slip like a serpent from the mortal mindN
Down through the marshes of oblivion SoonO
A race of gods shall rise Disarm DisarmP
