Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDEFFGG HHIIJJKLMMOn The Presentation Of An American Banner To Camp Rochambeau By The Marquise De Rochambeau At Tours France June | A |

Here is a picture I carry away | B |
On memory's wall A green June day | B |
A golden sun in an amethyst sky | C |
And a beautiful banner floating as high | C |
As the lofty spires of the city of Tours | D |
And a slender Marquise with a face as pure | E |
As a sculptured saint while staunch and true | F |
In new world khaki and old world blue | F |
Wearing their medals with modest pride | G |
Her stalwart bodyguard stand at her side | G |
- | |
Simple the picture but much it may mean | H |
To one who reads into and under the scene | H |
For there in that opulent hour and weather | I |
Two great Republics came closer together | I |
A little nearer came land to land | J |
Through the magical touch of a woman's hand | J |
And once again as in long ago | K |
The grand old name of de Rochambeau | L |
Shines forth like a star for our world to see | M |
Our Land of the Brave and our Home of the Free | M |
