De Rochambeau Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDEFFGG HHIIJJKLMM

On The Presentation Of An American Banner To Camp Rochambeau By The Marquise De Rochambeau At Tours France JuneA
-
Here is a picture I carry awayB
On memory's wall A green June dayB
A golden sun in an amethyst skyC
And a beautiful banner floating as highC
As the lofty spires of the city of ToursD
And a slender Marquise with a face as pureE
As a sculptured saint while staunch and trueF
In new world khaki and old world blueF
Wearing their medals with modest prideG
Her stalwart bodyguard stand at her sideG
-
Simple the picture but much it may meanH
To one who reads into and under the sceneH
For there in that opulent hour and weatherI
Two great Republics came closer togetherI
A little nearer came land to landJ
Through the magical touch of a woman's handJ
And once again as in long agoK
The grand old name of de RochambeauL
Shines forth like a star for our world to seeM
Our Land of the Brave and our Home of the FreeM
