Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHII AAJKFFAcross my window glass | A |
The moving shadows of the people pass | A |
Sometimes the shadow's pause and through the hall | B |
Kind neighbours come to call | B |
Bringing a word or smile | C |
To cheer my loneliness a little while | C |
But as I hear them talk | D |
These people who can walk | D |
And go about the great green earth at will | E |
I wonder if they know the joy of being still | E |
And all alone with thoughts that soar afar | F |
High as the highest star | F |
And oft I feel more free | G |
Than those who travel over land and sea | G |
For one who is shut in | H |
Away from all the outer strife and din | H |
With faithful Pain for guide | I |
Finds where Great Truths abide | I |
- | |
Across my window glass | A |
The moving shadows pass | A |
But swifter moves my unimpeded thought | J |
Speeding from spot to spot | K |
Out and afar | F |
High as the highest star | F |
