Compensations: 02 - Deaf Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBBADEFGE

I can recall a time when on mine earsA
There fell chaotic sounds of earthly lifeB
Shrill cries of triumph and hoarse shouts of strifeB
A medley of despairs and hopes and fearsA
Then silence came and unavailing tearsC
The stillness stabbed me like a two edged knifeB
Until I found the Universe was rifeB
With subtle music of the neighbouring spheresA
Such harmonies such congruous sweet chordsD
Wherein each note conveys a healing balmE
And now no more I miss men's spoken wordsF
For in a quiet world of larger thoughtG
I know the joy that comes from being calmE
