Compensations: 01 - Blind Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFEGHGHII| When first the shadows fell like prison bars | A |
| And darkness spread before me like a pall | B |
| I cried out for the sun the earth the stars | A |
| And beat the air as madmen beat a wall | C |
| Till impotent and broken with despair | D |
| I turned my vision inward Lo a spark | E |
| A light a torch and all my world grew bright | F |
| For God's dear eyes were shining through the dark | E |
| Then bringing to me gifts of recompense | G |
| Came keener hearing finer taste and touch | H |
| And that oft unappreciated sense | G |
| Which finds sweet odours and proclaims them such | H |
| And not until my mortal eyes were blind | I |
| Did I perceive how kind the world how kind | I |
