Bridge Of Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GDGD HIHI JDJD

The bridge of prayer from heavenly heights suspendedA
Unites the earth with spirit realms in SpaceB
The interests of those separate worlds are blendedA
For those whose feet turn often toward that placeB
-
In troubled nights of sorrow and repiningC
When joy and hope seem sunk in dark despairD
We still may see above the shadows shiningC
The gleaming archway of the bridge of prayerD
-
From that fair height our souls may lean and listenE
To sounds of music from the farther shoreF
And through the vapours sometimes dear eyes glistenE
Of loved ones who have hastened on beforeF
-
And angels come from their Celestial CityG
And meet us half way on the bridge of prayerD
God sends them forth full of divinest pityG
To strengthen us for burdens we must bearD
-
Oh you whose feet walk in some shadowed by wayH
Far from the scenes of pleasure and delightI
Still free to you hangs this suspended highwayH
Where heavenly glories dawn upon the sightI
-
And common paths glow with a grace supernalJ
And happiness walks hand in hand with careD
And faith becomes a knowledge fixed eternalJ
For those who often seek the bridge of prayerD
