Beyond Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC CDEDFF GHGHII AJAJKK LALAMM

It seemeth such a little way to meA
Across to that strange country the BeyondB
And yet not strange for it has grown to beA
The home of those whom I am so fondB
They make it seem familiar and most dearC
As journeying friends bring distant regions nearC
-
So close it lies that when my sight is clearC
I think I almost see the gleaming strandD
I know I feel those who have gone from hereE
Come near enough sometimes to touch my handD
I often think but for our veiled eyesF
We should find heaven right round about us liesF
-
I cannot make it seem a day to dreadG
When from this dear earth I shall journey outH
To that still dear country of the deadG
And join the lost ones so long dreamed aboutH
I love this world yet shall I love to goI
And meet the friends who wait for me I knowI
-
I never stand above a bier and seeA
The seal of death set on some well loved faceJ
But that I think One more to welcome meA
When I shall cross the intervening spaceJ
Between this land and that one over thereK
One more to make the strange Beyond seem fairK
-
And so for me there is no sting to deathL
And so the grave has lost its victoryA
It is but crossing with a bated breathL
And white set face a little strip of seaA
To find the loved ones waiting on the shoreM
More beautiful more precious than beforeM
