Be Not Weary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEF GAHAIDJD AKALEMAMSometimes when I am toil worn and aweary | A |
And tired out with working long and well | B |
And earth is dark and skies above are dreary | A |
And heart and soul are all too sick to tell | B |
These words have come to me like angel fingers | C |
Pressing the spirit's eyelids down in sleep | D |
'Oh let us not be weary in well doing | E |
For in due season we shall surely reap ' | F |
- | |
Oh blessed promise When I seem to hear it | G |
Whispered by angel voices on the air | A |
It breathes new life and courage to my spirit | H |
And gives me strength to suffer and forbear | A |
And I can wait most patiently for harvest | I |
And cast my seeds nor ever faint nor weep | D |
If I know surely that my work availeth | J |
And in God's season I at last shall reap | D |
- | |
When mind and body were borne down completely | A |
And I have thought my efforts were all in vain | K |
These words have come to me so softly sweetly | A |
And whispered hope and urged me on again | L |
And though my labour seems all unavailing | E |
And all my striving fruitless yet the Lord | M |
Doth treasure up each little seed I scatter | A |
And sometime sometime I shall reap the reward | M |
