What could the mountain do but gaze and burn | E |
What could the meadow do but look and yearn | E |
And gem its bosom to conceal despair | D |

Their seething passion agitated space | F |
Till lo the lands a sudden earthquake shook | G |
The river fled the meadow leaped and took | G |
The leaning mountain in a close embrace | F |
