At An Old Drawer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE CFFFFGFG HIHIFJFJ FKFKLMLM

Before this scarf was fadedA
What hours of mirth it knewB
How gayly it paradedC
From smiling eyes to viewB
The days were tinged with gloryD
The nights too quickly spedE
And life was like a storyD
Where all the people wedE
-
Before this rosebud wiltedC
How passionately sweetF
The wild waltz smelled and liltedF
In time for flying feetF
How loud the bassoons mutteredF
The horns grew madly shrillG
And oh the vows lips utteredF
That hearts could not fulfillG
-
Before this fan was brokenH
Behind its lace and pearlI
What whispered words were spokenH
What hearts were in a whirlI
What homesteads were selectedF
In Fancy's realm of SpainJ
What castles were erectedF
Without a room for painJ
-
When this odd glove was matedF
How thrilling seemed the playK
Maybe our hearts are satedF
We tire so soon to dayK
O thrust away these treasuresL
They speak the dreary truthM
We have outgrown the pleasuresL
And keen delights of youthM
