Art Thou Alive? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEFF DDGGHH BBIIJK

Art thou alive Nay not too soon replyA
Tho' hand and foot and lip and ear and eyeA
Respond and do thy bidding yet may beB
Grim death has done his direst work with theeB
Life as God gives it is a thing apartC
From active body and from beating heartC
It is the vital spark the unseen fireD
That moves the mind to reason and aspireE
It is the force that bids emotion rollF
In mighty billows from the surging soulF
-
It is the light that grows from hour to hourD
And floods the brain with consciousness of powerD
It is the spirit dominating allG
And reaching God with its imperious callG
Until the shining glory of His faceH
Illuminates each sorrowful dark placeH
-
It is the truth that sets the bondsman freeB
Knowing he will be what he wills to beB
With its unburied dead the earth is sadI
Art thou alive proclaim it and be gladI
Perchance the dead may hear thee and ariseJ
Knowing they live and HERE is ParadiseK
