| And felt impatient longings for the rose | C |
| Ere its full radiance on our vision glows | C |
| Or with its fragrant soul we can commune | A |

| Who walk in safe and sunny paths alway | E |
| But those who groping in the darkness borrow | F |
| Pale rays from hope to lead them through the night | G |
