Applause Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBCDEDEDD

I hold it one of the sad certain lawsA
Which makes our failures sometime seem more kindB
Than that success which brings sure loss behindB
True greatness dies when sounds the world's applauseA
Fame blights the object it would bless becauseA
Weighed down with men's expectancy the mindB
Can no more soar to those far heights and findB
That freedom which its inspiration wasC
When once we listen to its noisy cheersD
Or hear the populace' approval thenE
We catch no more the music of the spheresD
Or walk with gods and angels but with menE
Till impotent from our self conscious fearsD
The plaudits of the world turn into sneersD
