America Will Not Turn Back' Woodrow Wilson Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFGFAA HIJIK LMN OP

America will not turn backA
She did not idly startB
But weighed full carefully and wellC
Her grave important partB
She chose the part of Freedom's friendD
And will pursue it to the endD
-
Great Liberty who guards her gatesE
Will shine upon her courseF
And light the long adventurous pathG
With radiance from God's SourceF
And though blood dye that ocean trackA
America will not turn backA
-
She will not turn until that hourH
When thunders through the worldI
The crash of tyrant monarchiesJ
By Freedom's hand down hurledI
While Labour's voice from sea to seaK
Sings loud 'My country 'tis of thee '-
-
Then will our fair Columbia turnL
While all wars' clamours ceaseM
And with our banner lifted highN
Proclaim 'Let there be Peace '-
But till that glorious day shall dawnO
She will march on she will march onP
