Alone In The House Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCCD EFEFGBGGB HIJIKLKKL MNMNOGOPG

I am all alone in the house to nightA
They would not have gone awayB
Had they known of the terrible bloodless fightA
I have held with my heart to dayB
With the old sweet love and the old fierce painC
I have battled hour by hourD
But the fates have willed that the strife is vainC
Alone in the hour my thoughts have reignC
And I yield myself to their powerD
-
Yield myself to the old time charmE
Of a dream of vanished blissF
The thrill of a voice and the fold of an armE
And a red lip's lingering kissF
It all comes back like a flowing tideG
That brief but beautiful dayB
Though it oft is checked by the dam of prideG
Till the waters flow back to the other sideG
To night it has broken awayB
-
I gave you all that I had to giveH
O love the lavish wholeI
And you threw it away and now I liveJ
A starved and beggared soulI
And I feed on crumbs that memory throwsK
From her table over filledL
And I lay awake when others reposeK
And slake my thirst when no one knowsK
With the wine that she has spilledL
-
I go my way and I do my partM
In the world's great scene of strifeN
But I do it all with an empty heartM
Dead to the best of lifeN
And ofttimes weary and tempest tossedO
When I am not ruled by prideG
I wish ere the die was throne and lostO
Ere I played for love without counting the costP
That I like my heart had diedG
