Aesthetic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF CHCH CACA IJIJ CACA CACAIn a garb that was guiltless of colours | A |
She stood with a dull listless air | B |
A creature of dumps and of dolours | A |
But most undeniably fair | B |
- | |
The folds of her garment fell round her | C |
Revealing the curve of each limb | D |
Well proportioned and graceful I found her | C |
Although quite alarmingly slim | D |
- | |
From the hem of her robe peeped one sandal | E |
High art was she down to her feet | F |
And though I could not understand all | G |
She said I could see she was sweet | F |
- | |
Impressed by her limpness and languor | C |
I proffered a chair near at hand | H |
She looked back a mild sort of anger | C |
Posed anew and continued to stand | H |
- | |
Some praises I next tried to mutter | C |
Of the fan that she held to her face | A |
She said it was utterly utter | C |
And waved it with languishing grace | A |
- | |
I then in a strain quite poetic | I |
Begged her gaze on the bow in the sky | J |
She looked said its curve was aesthetic | I |
But the tone was too dreadfully high | J |
- | |
Her lovely face lit by the splendour | C |
That glorified landscape and sea | A |
Woke thoughts that were daring and tender | C |
Did her thoughts too rest upon me | A |
- | |
Oh tell me I cried growing bolder | C |
Have I in your musings a place | A |
Well yes she said over her shoulder | C |
I was thinking of nothing in space | A |
