A Song Of Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDD EEFFCGGHHBBCII JJFFCAA

I am singing a song to the boys to dayA
A song of the home that is far awayA
And I know that an echo the word is wakingB
In many a heart that is secretly achingB
Yes almost breaking thinking of Home dear HomeC
But thought dear boys is a carrier doveD
And it flies straight into the hearts you loveD
-
You picture the days of your youthful joysE
The old home circle the girls and boysE
You knew in that wonderful world of pleasureF
When life danced on to a lilting measureF
Each scene you treasure thinking of Home dear HomeC
And here is a thought that is sweet and trueG
The ones you long for are longing for youG
You picture the day when the war is doneH
The duty accomplished the victory wonH
And over the billows our ships go leapingB
Into our beautiful harbour sweepingB
And with laughter and weeping you go back Home Home HomeC
On the walls of your heart you must hang with careI
This beautiful picture framed in prayerI
-
Thinking of Home you are blazing a trailJ
For that glorious day when our ships shall sailJ
Where the Goddess of Liberty lights the waterF
To guide you back from the fields of slaughterF
Fair Freedom's daughter who welcomes us Home Home HomeC
So hold your vision and work and prayA
As you dream of the Home that is far awayA
