A Sculptor Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDEDCFGGFHIAs the ambitious sculptor tireless lifts | A |
Chisel and hammer to the block at hand | B |
Before my half formed character I stand | B |
And ply the shining tools of mental gifts | A |
I'll cut away a huge unsightly side | C |
Of selfishness and smooth to curves of grace | D |
The angles of ill temper | E |
And no trace | D |
Shall my sure hammer leave of silly pride | C |
Chip after chip must fall from vain desires | F |
And the sharp corners of my discontent | G |
Be rounded into symmetry and lent | G |
Great harmony by faith that never tires | F |
Unfinished still I must toil on and on | H |
Till the pale critic Death shall say ''Tis done ' | I |
