A Reminiscence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABCDB CCEFFE GGHIIH JJHKKH LLJMMJ NNHOOH PQRAARI saw the wild honey bee kissing a rose | A |
A wee one that grows | A |
Down low on the bush where her sisters above | B |
Cannot see all that's done | C |
As the moments roll on | D |
Nor hear all the whispers and murmurs of love | B |
- | |
They flaunt out their beautiful leaves in the sun | C |
And they flirt every one | C |
With the wild bees who pass and the gay butterflies | E |
And that wee thing in pink | F |
Why they never once think | F |
That she's won a lover right under their eyes | E |
- | |
It reminded me Kate of a time you know when | G |
You were so petite then | G |
Your dresses were short and your feet were so small | H |
Your sisters Maud Belle | I |
And Madeline well | I |
They both set their caps for me after that ball | H |
- | |
How the blue eyes and black eyes smiled up in my face | J |
'Twas a neck and neck race | J |
Till that day when you opened the door in the hall | H |
And looked up and looked down | K |
With your sweet eyes of brown | K |
And YOU seemed so tiny and I felt so tall | H |
- | |
Your sisters had sent you to keep me my dear | L |
Till they should appear | L |
Then you were dismissed like a child in disgrace | J |
How meekly you went | M |
But your brown eyes they sent | M |
A thrill to my heart and a flush to my face | J |
- | |
We always were meeting some way after that | N |
You hung up my hat | N |
And got it again when I finished my call | H |
Sixteen and so sweet | O |
Oh those cute little feet | O |
Shall I ever forget how they tripped down the hall | H |
- | |
Shall I ever forget the first kiss by the door | P |
Or the vows murmured o'er | Q |
Or the rage and surprise of Maud Belle Well a day | R |
How swiftly time flows | A |
And who would suppose | A |
That a bee could have carried me so far away | R |
