A Plea To Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHICCJJ KKLLMMNNCC

When mighty issues loom before us allA
The petty great men of the day seem smallA
Like pigmies standing in a blaze of lightB
Before some grim majestic mountain heightB
War with its bloody and impartial handC
Reveals the hidden weakness of a landC
Uncrowns the heroes trusting Peace has madeD
Of men whose honour is a thing of tradeD
And turns the searchlight full on many a placeE
Where proud conventions long have masked disgraceE
O lovely Peace as thou art fair be wiseF
Demand great men and great men shall ariseF
To do thy bidding Even as warriors comeG
Swift at the call of bugle and of drumG
So at the voice of Peace imperativeH
As bugle's call shall heroes spring to liveI
For country and for thee In every landC
In every age men are what times demandC
Demand the best O Peace and teach thy sonsJ
They need not rush in front of death charged gunsJ
With murder in their hearts to prove their worthK
The grandest heroes who have graced the earthK
Were love filled souls who did not seek the frayL
But chose the safe hard high and lonely wayL
Of selfless labour for a suffering worldM
Beneath our glorious flag again unfurledM
In victory such heroes wait to beN
Called into bloodless action Peace by theeN
Be thou insistent in thy stern demandC
And wise great men shall rise up in the landC
