A Burial Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHJ KLKL MDMD NONO

Today I had a burial of my deadA
There was no shroud no coffin and no pallB
No prayers were uttered and no tears were shedA
I only turned a picture to the wallC
-
A picture that had hung within my roomD
For years and years a relic of my youthE
It kept the rose of love in constant bloomD
To see those eyes of earnestness and truthE
-
At hours wherein no other dared intrudeF
I had drawn comfort from its smiling graceG
Silent companion of my solitudeF
My soul held sweet communion with that faceG
-
I lived again the dream so bright so briefH
Though wakened as we all are by some FateI
This picture gave me infinite reliefH
And did not leave me wholly desolateJ
-
To day I saw an item quite by chanceK
That robbed me of my pitiful poor doleL
A marriage notice fell beneath my glanceK
And I became a lonely widowed soulL
-
With drooping eyes and cheeks a burning flameM
I turned the picture to the blank wall's gloomD
My very heart had died in me of shameM
If I had left it smiling in my roomD
-
Another woman's husband So my friendN
My comfort my sole relic of the pastO
I bury thee and lonely seek the endN
Swift age has swept my youth from me at lastO
