View Of The Capitol From The Library Of Congress Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DEFE GHGG IJJKK LMNO

Moving from left to left the lightA
is heavy on the Dome and coarseB
One small lunette turns it asideC
and blankly stares off to the sideC
like a big white old wall eyed horseB
-
On the east steps the Air Force BandD
in uniforms of Air Force blueE
is playing hard and loud but queerF
the music doesn't quite come throughE
-
It comes in snatches dim then keenG
then mute and yet there is no breezeH
The giant trees stand in betweenG
I think the trees must interveneG
-
catching the music in their leavesI
like gold dust till each big leaf sagsJ
Unceasingly the little flagsJ
feed their limp stripes into the airK
and the band's efforts vanish thereK
-
Great shades edge overL
give the music roomM
The gathered brasses want to boN
i boom boom iO
