Seascape Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHGGIJDKLGMNOP KPQThis celestial seascape with white herons got up as angels | A |
flying high as they want and as far as they want sidewise | B |
in tiers and tiers of immaculate reflections | C |
the whole region from the highest heron | D |
down to the weightless mangrove island | E |
with bright green leaves edged neatly with bird droppings | F |
like illumination in silver | G |
and down to the suggestively Gothic arches of the mangrove roots | H |
and the beautiful pea green back pasture | G |
where occasionally a fish jumps like a wildflower | G |
in an ornamental spray of spray | I |
this cartoon by Raphael for a tapestry for a Pope | J |
it does look like heaven | D |
But a skeletal lighthouse standing there | K |
in black and white clerical dress | L |
who lives on his nerves thinks he knows better | G |
He thinks that hell rages below his iron feet | M |
that that is why the shallow water is so warm | N |
and he knows that heaven is not like this | O |
Heaven is not like flying or swimming | P |
but has something to do with blackness and a strong glare | K |
and when it gets dark he will remember something | P |
strongly worded to say on the subject | Q |
