Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGHG IJKJ LMNO

The roaring alongside he takes for grantedA
and that every so often the world is bound to shakeB
He runs he runs to the south finical awkwardC
in a state of controlled panic a student of BlakeB
-
The beach hisses like fat On his left a sheetD
of interrupting water comes and goesE
and glazes over his dark and brittle feetD
He runs he runs straight through it watching his toesE
-
Watching rather the spaces of sand between themF
where no detail too small the Atlantic drainsG
rapidly backwards and downwards As he runsH
he stares at the dragging grainsG
-
The world is a mist And then the world isI
minute and vast and clear The tideJ
is higher or lower He couldn't tell you whichK
His beak is focussed he is preoccupiedJ
-
looking for something something somethingL
Poor bird he is obsessedM
The millions of grains are black white tan and grayN
mixed with quartz grains rose and amethystO
