| I can make out the rigging of a schooner | B |

| the new cones on the spruce It is so still | D |

| even if I like to pretend they have | G |
| drifting in a dreamy sort of way | H |
| a little north a little south or sidewise | I |
| and that they re free within the blue frontiers of bay | H |

| This month our favorite one is full of flowers | J |
| buttercups red clover purple vetch | K |
| hackweed still burning daisies pied eyebright | C |
| the fragrant bedstraw's incandescent stars | L |
| and more returned to paint the meadows with delight | C |

| The goldfinches are back or others like them | M |
| and the white throated sparrow's five note song | N |
| pleading and pleading brings tears to the eyes | I |
| Nature repeats herself or almost does | O |
| repeat repeat repeat revise revise revise | I |

| Years ago you told me it was here | P |
| in you first discovered girls | Q |
| and learned to sail and learned to kiss | R |
| You had such fun you said that classic summer | B |
| Fun it always seemed to leave you at a loss | S |

| You left North Haven anchored in its rock | T |
| afloat in mystic blue And now you've left | C |
| for good You can't derange or rearrange | U |
| your poems again But the sparrows can their song | N |
