Intimate, Low-voiced, Delicate Things Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKLMNOO PQNQRSOO| It is marvellous to wake up together | A |
| At the same minute marvellous to hear | B |
| The rain begin suddenly all over the roof | C |
| To feel the air suddenly clear | D |
| As if electricity had passed through it | E |
| From a black mesh of wires in the sky | F |
| All over the roof the rain hisses | G |
| And below the light falling of kisses | H |
| - | |
| An electrical storm is coming or moving away | I |
| It is the prickling air that wakes us up | J |
| If lighting struck the house now it would run | K |
| From the four blue china balls on top | L |
| Down the roof and down the rods all around us | M |
| And we imagine dreamily | N |
| How the whole house caught in a bird cage of lightning | O |
| Would be quite delightful rather than frightening | O |
| - | |
| And from the same simplified point of view | P |
| Of night and lying flat on one's back | Q |
| All things might change equally easily | N |
| Since always to warn us there must be these black | Q |
| Electrical wires dangling Without surprise | R |
| The world might change to something quite different | S |
| As the air changes or the lightning comes without our blinking | O |
| Change as our kisses are changing without our thinking | O |
