At Eighty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHGIJKLKMNOKK

Push the boat out compa erosA
push the boat out whatever the seaB
Who says we cannot guide ourselvesC
through the boiling reefs black as they areD
the enemy of us all makes sure of itE
Mariners keep good watch alwaysF
for that last passage of blue waterG
we have heard of and long to reachH
no matter if we cannot no matterG
in our eighty year old timbersI
leaky and patched as they are but sweetJ
well seasoned with the scent of woodsK
long perished serviceable stillL
in unarrested pungencyK
of salt and blistering sunlight OutM
push it all out into the unknownN
Unknown is best it beckons bestO
like distant ships in mist or bellsK
clanging ruthless from stormy buoysK
