Absence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFAEGGHIJK LMNOPKP D

My shadowA
I woke to a wind swirling the curtains light and darkB
and the birds twittering on the roofs I lay coldC
in the early light in my room high over LondonD
What fear was it that made the wind sound like a fireE
so that I got up and looked out half asleepF
at the calm rows of street lights fading far belowA
Without fireE
Only the wind blewG
But in the dream I woke from youG
came running through the traffic tugging me clingingH
to my elbow your eyes spokeI
what I could not graspJ
Nothing if you were hereK
-
The wind of the early quietL
merges slowly now with a thousand rolling wheelsM
The lights are out the air is loudN
It is an ordinary January dayO
My shadow do you hear the streetsP
Are you at my heels Are you hereK
And I throw back the sheetsP
