Have You An Eye Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNON PBQB

Have you an eye for the trails the trailsA
The old mark and the newB
What scurried here what loitered thereC
In the dust and in the dewB
-
Have you an eye for the beaten trackD
The old hoof and the youngE
Come name me the drivers of yesterdayF
Sing me the songs they sungE
-
O was it a schooner last went byG
And where will it ford the streamH
Where will it halt in the early duskI
And where will the camp fire gleamH
-
They used to take the shortest cutJ
The cattle trails had madeK
Get down the hill by the easy slopeL
To the water and the shadeK
-
But it's barbed wire fence and section lineM
And kill horse travel nowN
Scoot you down the canyon bankO
The old road's under ploughN
-
Have you an eye for the laden wheelP
The worn tire or the newB
Or the sign of the prairie pony's hoofQ
Was never trimmed for shoeB
