| When the sweet spasm turns to agony | A |
| And the quick limbs are still and the eyes close | B |
| I too a fool desired to make love strong | C |
| Absence and parting but the measure's brimmed | D |
| The dose is over poured the time's too long | C |
| Already though two nights have hardly dimmed | D |
| My lonely eyes with the elusive sleep | E |
| O I'll remember I'll not wish again | F |
| To go with ardent limbs into this deep | E |
| Sea of dejection this dull mere of pain | G |
| We'll love our safer loves upon the shore | H |
| And quest for inexperienced joys no more | H |
