Bramber Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CCDEFD

Before the downs in their great horse shoes riseA
I know a village where the Adur runsB
Blown by sweet winds and by beneficent sunsB
Visited and made ripe beneath kind skiesA
Light and delight are in the children's eyesA
And there the mothers sit the fortunate onesB
Blest in their daughters happy in their sonsB
And the old men are beautiful and wiseA
-
There stand the downs great close tall friendly stillC
Linked up by grassy saddles hill on hillC
And steep the village in unending peaceD
And to the north the plains in order lieE
Heavy with crops and woods alternatelyF
And lively with low sounds that never ceaseD
