Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCDEDED FEFEGDGDGD BBBBDDDDDD BDBDBDBDBD

What is meant by active serviceA
'Ere where sin is leakin' looseB
'N' the oldest 'and's as nervisB
As a dog bedevilled gooseB
Has bin writ be every poetC
What can rhyme it worth a damD
But the 'orror as we know itE
Is jist jam jam JamD
Oh the 'ymn of 'ate we owe itE
Stodgy splodgy seepy soaky sanguinary jamD
-
There's the fearful roar iv battleF
What gets underneath yer 'atE
Mooin' like a million cattleF
Each as big as AraratE
There's the red field green 'n' slippyG
And I'm cleaner where I amD
But the thing that's got me nippyG
It is jam jam JamD
Druv us sour it has 'n' dippyG
Sticky sicky slimy sloppy stummick strafin' jamD
-
Of the mud that's in the trenchesB
Writers make a solemn fussB
For the vermin 'n' the stenchesB
Little ladies pity usB
But the yearn that's honest dinkumD
'N' the prayer what ain't a shamD
Is that Fritz may bust 'n' sink 'emD
Ships of jam jam JamD
For we bolt 'em chew 'em drink 'emD
Million billion bar'ls of beastly cloyin' clammy jamD
-
We are sorry sick of peachesB
'N' we're full right up of plumD
'N' innards fairly screechesB
When the tins of apple comeD
Back of Blighty piled in casesB
Jist as close as they can cramD
Fillin' all the open spacesB
Is the 'jam jam JamD
Oh the woe the soldiers face isB
Monday Sunday ruddy muddy boundless bogs of jamD
