Australia my native landA
A stirring whisper in your earB
'Tis time for you to understandA
Your rating now is A dearC
You've done some rousing things of lateD
That lift you from the simple stateD
In which you chose to vegetateD
-
The persons so superiorE
Whose patronage no more enduresF
Now have to fire a salvo forG
The glory that is fairly yoursF
At length you need no sort of crutchH
You stand alone you're voted muchH
Get busy and behave as suchH
-
No man from Oskosh or from HullI
Or any other chosen placeJ
Can rise with a distended skullI
And cast aspersions in your faceJ
You're given all the world to knowK
Your proper standing as a foeK
And hats are off and rightly soK
-
You furnished heroes for the frayL
Your sterling merit's widely blownM
To all men's satisfaction sayL
Now have you proved it to your ownM
Now have you strength to stand and shineN
In your own light and say DivineN
The thing is that I do It's mineN
-
The cannon's stroke throws customs downO
The black and bottomless abyssP
And quaking are the gilded crownO
And palsied feet of prejudiceP
The guns have killed but it is trueQ
They bring to life things good and newQ
God grant they have awakened youQ
-
My ears are greedy for the toastR
Of confidence before our guestS
The loyal song the manly boastR
Your splendid faith to manifestS
In works of art and livelihoodT
Shirk not the creed What's ours is goodT
Dread not to have it understoodT
-
Australia lift your royal browU
And have the courage of our prideV
Audacity becomes you nowU
Be splendidly self satisfiedV
No land from lowliness and dearthW
Has won to eminence on earthW
That was not conscious of its worthW
