In The Cathedral Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCEFC

THE altar lights burn low the incense fumeA
Sickens O listen how the priestly prayerB
Runs as a fenland stream a dim despairB
Hails through their chaunt of praise who here inhumeA
A clay cold Faith within its carven tombA
But come thou forth into the vital airB
Keen dark and pure grave Night is no betrayerB
And if perchance some faint cold star illumeA
Her brow of mystery shall we walk forlornC
An altar of the natural rock may riseD
Somewhere for men who seek there may be borneC
On the night wind authentic propheciesE
If not let this to breathe sane breath sufficeF
Till in yon East mayhap the dark be wornC
