First Rhymes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAACDCCEFEGHGIIn the meadow by the mill | A |
I'd make my ballad | B |
Tunes to that would whistle shrill | A |
And beat the blackbird's ringing bill | A |
But surely the innocent spring has died | C |
The sultry noon has hushed the bird | D |
The jingling word the tune untried | C |
All in that meadow must have died | C |
For that the fuller speech of song | E |
Has charmed me | F |
And lulled my lonely hours along | E |
Though beauty's truth that leads to day | G |
My longing trials | H |
Shone then like dewdrops in my way | G |
When ' Nature painted all things gay ' | I |
