Spirits Of The Dead Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDEFEGGHHIIJJKKLL MMGGIINN

Thy soul shall find itself aloneA
'Mid dark thoughts of the gray tombstoneA
Not one of all the crowd to pryB
Into thine hour of secrecyC
Be silent in that solitudeD
Which is not loneliness for thenE
The spirits of the dead who stoodF
In life before thee are againE
In death around thee and their willG
Shall overshadow thee be stillG
The night tho' clear shall frownH
And the stars shall not look downH
From their high thrones in the HeavenI
With light like Hope to mortals givenI
But their red orbs without beamJ
To thy weariness shall seemJ
As a burning and a feverK
Which would cling to thee foreverK
Now are thoughts thou shalt not banishL
Now are visions ne'er to vanishL
From thy spirit shall they passM
No more like dew drops from the grassM
The breeze the breath of God is stillG
And the mist upon the hillG
Shadowy shadowy yet unbrokenI
Is a symbol and a tokenI
How it hangs upon the treesN
A mystery of mysteriesN
