The ring is on my handA
And the wreath is on my browB
Satin and jewels grandA
Are all at my commandA
And I am happy nowB
-
And my lord he loves me wellC
But when first he breathed his vowB
I felt my bosom swellC
For the words rang as a knellC
And the voice seemed his who fellC
In the battle down the dellC
And who is happy nowB
-
But he spoke to re assure meD
And he kissed my pallid browB
While a reverie came o'er meD
And to the church yard bore meD
And I sighed to him before meD
Thinking him dead D'ElormieD
Oh I am happy nowB
-
And thus the words were spokenE
And this the plighted vowB
And though my faith be brokenE
And though my heart be brokenE
Here is a ring as tokenE
That I am happy nowB
-
Would God I could awakenE
For I dream I know not howB
And my soul is sorely shakenE
Lest an evil step be takenE
Lest the dead who is forsakenE
May not be happy nowB
