When Mother Sleeps Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFHDID JKJKLDLD

When mother sleeps a slamming doorA
Disturbs her not at allB
A man might walk across the floorA
Or wander through the hallB
A pistol shot outside would notC
Drive slumber from her eyesD
But she is always on the spotC
The moment baby criesD
-
The thunder crash she would not hearE
Nor shouting in the streetF
A barking dog however nearG
Of sleep can never cheatF
Dear mother but I've noticed thisH
To my profound surpriseD
That always wide awake she isI
The moment baby criesD
-
However weary she may beJ
Though wrapped in slumber deepK
Somehow it always seems to meJ
Her vigil she will keepK
Sound sleeper that she is I takeL
It in her heart there liesD
A love that causes her to wakeL
The moment baby criesD
