What A Baby Costs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGGHHCCII FFJBKKLLM

'How much do babies cost ' said heA
The other night upon my kneeA
And then I said 'They cost a lotB
A lot of watching by a cotB
A lot of sleepless hours and careC
A lot of heartache and despairC
A lot of fear and trying dreadD
And sometimes many tears are shedD
In payment for our babies smallE
But every one is worth it allE
-
'For babies people have to payF
A heavy price from day to dayF
There is no way to get one cheapG
Why sometimes when they're fast asleepG
You have to get up in the nightH
And go and see that they're all rightH
But what they cost in constant careC
And worry does not half compareC
With what they bring of joy and blissI
You'd pay much more for just a kissI
-
'Who buys a baby has to payF
A portion of the bill each dayF
He has to give his time and thoughtJ
Unto the little one he's boughtB
He has to stand a lot of painK
Inside his heart and not complainK
And pay with lonely days and sadL
For all the happy hours he's hadL
All this a baby costs and yetM
His smile is worth it all you bet '-
