Until She Died Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDEEDFFGHHGIIJK KLMM

Until she died we never knewA
The beauty of our faith in GodB
We'd seen the summer roses nodB
And wither as the tempests blewA
Through many a spring we'd lived to seeC
The buds returning to the treeC
We had not felt the touch of woeD
What cares had come had lightly flownE
Our burdens we had borne aloneE
The need of God we did not knowD
It seemed sufficient through the daysF
To think and act in worldly waysF
And then she closed her eyes in sleepG
She left us for a little whileH
No more our lives would know her smileH
And oh the hurt of it went deepG
It seemed to us that we must fallI
Before the anguish of it allI
Our faith which had not known the testJ
Then blossomed with its comfort sweetK
Promised that some day we should meetK
And whispered to us 'He knows best 'L
And when our bitter tears were driedM
We found our faith was glorifiedM
