| What cares had come had lightly flown | E |
| Our burdens we had borne alone | E |
| The need of God we did not know | D |
| It seemed sufficient through the days | F |
| To think and act in worldly ways | F |
| And then she closed her eyes in sleep | G |
| She left us for a little while | H |
| No more our lives would know her smile | H |
| And oh the hurt of it went deep | G |
| It seemed to us that we must fall | I |
| Before the anguish of it all | I |
| Our faith which had not known the test | J |
| Then blossomed with its comfort sweet | K |
| Promised that some day we should meet | K |
| And whispered to us 'He knows best ' | L |
| And when our bitter tears were dried | M |
| We found our faith was glorified | M |
