Under The Skin Of Men Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGDGD HIHIJKJK

Did you ever sit down and talk with menA
In a serious sort of a wayB
On their views of life and ponder thenA
On all that they have to sayB
If not you should in some quiet hourC
It's a glorious thing to doD
For you'll find that back of the pomp and powerC
Most men have a goal in viewD
-
They'll tell you then that their aim is notE
The clink of the yellow goldF
That not in the worldly things they've gotE
Would they have their stories toldF
They'll say the joys that they treasure mostG
Are their good friends tried and trueD
And an honest name for their own to boastG
And peace when the day is throughD
-
I've talked with men and I think I knowH
What's under the toughened skinI
I've seen their eyes grow bright and glowH
With the fire that burns withinI
And back of the gold and back of the fameJ
And back of the selfish strifeK
In most men's breasts you'll find the flameJ
Of the nobler things of lifeK
