Things That Haven't Been Done Before Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGA IJIKDADA AFAFLDLD

The things that haven't been done beforeA
Those are the things to tryB
Columbus dreamed of an unknown shoreA
At the rim of the far flung skyB
And his heart was bold and his faith was strongC
As he ventured in dangers newD
And he paid no heed to the jeering throngC
Or the fears of the doubting crewD
-
The many will follow the beaten trackE
With guideposts on the wayF
They live and have lived for ages backE
With a chart for every dayF
Someone has told them it's safe to goG
On the road he has traveled o'erH
And all that they ever strive to knowG
Are the things that were known beforeA
-
A few strike out without map or chartI
Where never a man has beenJ
From the beaten paths they draw apartI
To see what no man has seenK
There are deeds they hunger alone to doD
Though battered and bruised and soreA
They blaze the path for the many whoD
Do nothing not done beforeA
-
The things that haven't been done beforeA
Are the tasks worth while to dayF
Are you one of the flock that follows orA
Are you one that shall lead the wayF
Are you one of the timid souls that quailL
At the jeers of a doubting crewD
Or dare you whether you win or failL
Strike out for a goal that's newD
