Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEF AGAGHIHIJKJK LHLHMNMNBFBF

THEY 'RE coming home Thanksgiving DayA
They 're coming back once moreB
And mother's smiles begin to playA
The way they did beforeB
The youngsters went away SomehowC
She doesn't seem so oldD
The lines have faded from her browC
She's sprightly now and boldD
And yesterday she sang a songE
That took me back to whenF
The youngest merely crept alongE
And Frank was only tenF
-
They 're coming home Thanksgiving DayA
And mother shows it tooG
Her hair somehow is not so grayA
And in her eyes the blueG
Is clearer than it used to beH
And in them there's a lightI
Of love that I was wont to seeH
When courting her at nightI
She's singing songs again and inJ
Her voice there 's not a crackK
Once more the dimple's in her chinJ
For they are coming backK
-
They 're coming back that's all we knowL
They 're coming back to seeH
The mother of the long agoL
They 're coming back to meH
And we've put off a thousand woesM
And shelved a dozen yearsN
In mother's fading cheek the roseM
Of June once more appearsN
The old home seems to thrill once moreB
The way it used to whenF
The baby crept along the floorB
And Frank was only tenF
