There every race has taken place | F |

The blacksmith sings as his anvil rings | G |
Of the town of Nothing to Do | B |
And vows in his song though the road is long | H |
When with anvil and forge he's through | B |
He will wander far where the glad folks are | I |
And will rest in that happy town | J |
He dreams of the day when he'll put for aye | K |
His apron and hammer down | J |

O it matters not what the toiler's lot | L |
Be he preacher or soldier brave | M |
Though he delve a ditch be he great or rich | N |
Be judge or a statesman grave | M |
He dreams always of the future days | O |
When he'll go to Nothing to Do | B |
When he's faced life's test and his hands will rest | P |
And his time of toil is through | B |

But Nothing to Do folks tell me who | B |
Have journeyed the hills and found it | Q |
Is a hollow fake and a big mistake | R |
For the streams of care surround it | Q |
And the people there they all declare | A |
Are gloomy and sad and sighing | S |
And they yearn for strife for the joy of life | T |
Is something to do worth trying | S |
